The NAACP(National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) in the US has recently accepted the resignation of the head of the Department of Agriculture’s rural development office in Georgia. It has been on the basis of her public racist comments. It seems there is more to the comments then what the youtube edits show and the woman does talk later on about how she also had to overcome her own racism. Over the last week the aeroplanes were grounded. I live in west London and it is common to hear aeroplanes fly overhead every thirty minutes. Sometimes they are so loud when I am in town conversation stops. It has been pleasant and very quiet not hearing airplanes fly overhead. The loss to industry has however run into the millions. A movie allows us to live in another character, another world for a few hours. A movie brings up emotions, a wide range of emotions which can be accessed through the characters and narrative in the movie. Continue reading
