Christmas started in the shops at the end of October. Shops were crowded with people buying gifts. Then there are the boxing-day sales due tomorrow.
Today though is Christmas. Christmas is such an interesting time. It brings out so many different and varied feelings in different people. The basic message though for Christians is about Christ who was born, the message he brought the world and the gift of his life for mans salvation.
For those of us who are not Christian what is the message? I have many clients from other religions who also celebrate Christmas. Some Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims who also give gifts and even have Christmas trees in their homes. Some even have a Christmas meal with Turkey and all the trimmings; roast potatoes, carrots, brussell sprouts, plum pudding and cream. The message that even goes deeper than Christ is the message of togetherness and a celebration of everyone’s birthday. It is not only the birthday of Christ but a Birthday of each and every one of us too. We all celebrate our birthday today and the gift of our own life and what we ourselves bring to this world too.
Happy Birthday to you….
What a lovely sentiment!
Did you know that Christ was actually born in April but what todo it would have made for the Church to change when Xmas and Easter happens.
I do not celebrate my birthday today I celebrate mine in April 🙂 but I like the idea and perhaps I will have two birthdays this year, send presents please 🙂
Hi, Yes, interesting idea on the possibility of Christmas being in April. Queen Elizabeth II of England has 2 birthdays. One in April and one in June. She has 3 if you include Christmas….Why have only one?
